Kate Langhart, MSW, LCSW
Kate has worked in the social service and child development
field since 1995. She was awarded her undergraduate degree
in Human Development and acquired an elementary teaching
certificate. Kate’s undergraduate work focused on young
children, particularly those with special needs --
behaviorally, emotionally and physically. She assisted in a
longitudinal study of adopted Chinese baby girls and their
motor skills development over the course of three years. In
1999 Kate provided care and support to severely traumatized
children in a long-term residential setting. Between 1999
and 2003 Kate managed a family orientated resource and case
management program called the Family Focus Program in
Maryland. The program served families of many cultures and
backgrounds and focused on parenting skills and resource
management. She taught parenting classes on several
occasions. Kate continued her focus on families through
graduate school between 2003 and 2005, earning her MSW from
Smith College. She served families in the urban setting with
emotionally and behaviorally challenged, traumatized,
adopted, and foster children as well as children in kinship
care. Since 2005 Kate has worked as a family therapist in a
Family Based program in Bucks County, PA. In this position
she served families with children with a wide range of
diagnosis, experiences and backgrounds. She has recently
begun work with The Institute for Children and Families as a
child, adolescent, and family psychotherapist.
Kate has been a licensed
social worker since 2005, is a member of the Pennsylvania
Society for Clinical Social Workers and the NASW.
Making the transition to becoming a resident of Lancaster
County, Kate enjoys traveling, reading, biking and swimming.
She is a great asset to ICF, bringing impressive skills,
experience, and enthusiasm to the children and families with
whom she will work. |
